Cocopeat(5Kg), Vermicompost(10 Kg), Vermiculite( 900 Gms), Perlite(450 Gms), Pumice Stone (450 Gms), Wooden Charcoal (900 Gms), Natural River Sand (5Kg)
Cocopeat:
- It can absorb upto 75 litres of water.
-
Gardeners use cocopeat for soil amendment all over the world. This is the best soil less medium. For this reason, professionals grow seeds in coco peat based media for better root growth and long life of plant.
-
Root growth is very healthy with use of cocopeat. Chances of fungal infection are also reduced.
-
This is capable to retain optimum moisture. Use of cocopeat enhances water holding capacity of soil manifold.
-
This is commonly used in potting mix of indoor plants, Adenium Soil, Succulents soil and many other plants. Cocopeat can be added upto 20 % with soil of all plants as soil amendment. If you are using more than 20 % with any outdoor fruit bearing plant, you may face premature shedding of buds/ raw fruits.
-
This is clarified that use of cocopeat will not provide any nutritional value. You have to use any other fertilizer for nutritional requirement of the plant. Its Ph value ranges between 6 to 7.
-
We can improve plant growth and soil health with optimum use of Cocopeat.
-
This coco peat is washed and germ free. This coco peat can ensure healthy life of plants even in hot weather. Plant lovers also use this for air layering of plants.
Vermicompost : An earthworm has been shown in the image of Vermicompost for reference only. There may be some baby earthworms in the pack, but possibility is low. Due to storage of vermicompost in air tight poly packs, most of the baby earthworms die.
This is the best quality vermi-compost which is made by cow dung with use of earthworms. High value of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium and many more needful nutrients are available in this compost. Moreover, various useful micro-organisms are also present in this compost for better health of the soil.
This vermicompost is prepared only by Cow dung, hence it's free from harmful worms and larva. If we use buffalo dung for composting, we observe presence of many harmful worms, caterpillars to decompose the dung. Moreover, due to use of only cow dung (without using other biodegradable organic waste), this compost is very light weight and does not get compact with passage of time. This compost is also helpful in better drainage and roots aeration.
Ph Value of this Vermi-Compost ranges between 5 to 6.5
This vermicompost is odour-less and ideal for your indoor plants as well. Nutritional effect of this compost will be for longer time. After a long period of decomposition (approximately 2 months), earthworms have prepared this compost and therefore chances of termite attacks on the soil will also be reduced. While using this compost, possibility of unwanted weeds will also be very low. This compost may have presence of 5-7 % moisture.
Perlite:
- Perlite is used for fast drainage and roots aeration as soil amendment all over the world.
- This is a very light weight Perlite.
- Very less powder (Maximum 5%) may be available in this pack.
- Perlite is the most essential component of potting soil to ensure healthy growth of most of the plants. Perlite is appreciated for its vital role in ensuring proper drainage in soil. It also provides optimum aeration of roots by providing oxygen supply. Perlite is very helpful in making soil porous. With use of perlite, root growth is enhanced and thereby plant grows healthily throughout its life.
- Use of Perlite is more beneficial in preparation of potting mix for Succulents, cactus, Adenium, lithops and sanseviera and most indoor plants. We can mix upto 20-30% in soil / media.
- This Perlite is fully sterile and free from harmful germs and pathogens. For this reason, perlite is popularly used in hydroponic / soil-less farming on large scale. The perlite does not decompose for many years.
- This is capable to reduce weight of potting media.
- Kindly note that perlite does not give any nutritional benefits.
Charcoal-
- Charcoal works as an excellent soil conditioner while making potting soil. Due to its bigger size, it is more suitable for Adenium, Rose, snake plants, bonsai and Orchid plants. For smaller plants, (like-succulents, cactus and other plants), 2-8 mm charcoal size is more suitable.
- It provides protection from fungal attacks also. You can mix it in soil upto 20%. Use of charcoal is also good for better drainage in soil. We strongly recommend to use this size of Charcoal at lowest portion of pot, so that it can protect from root rot while ensuring roots' aeration.
- Charcoal is famous for its odour absorption quality, hence it also acts as air purifier.
-
This is not activated charcoal. This is natural wood charcoal, free from any fire igniting / inducing chemical. This provides better roots aeration as well. 8-20 mm size of charcoal is most suitable size for mixing in soil of plants.
-
This may also be used for mulching, especially with Adenium, succulents and cacti. Moreover, this charcoal can be used in bottom portion of pot as well.
- This is capable to reduce weight of potting media.
- You can easily break this into smaller pieces with a hammer.
- If you want to use this charcoal for barbecue or outdoor burning during winter season, you can use.
Vermiculite:
- This is the best quality light weight Vermiculite, free from impurities of Silica.
- Vermiculite is an excellent component of potting soil for your most types of garden plants (i.e. Succulents, Adenium, Indoor plants etc.).
- You can mix it in soil upto 20%. Use of vermiculite is good for better water drainage in soil.
- Vermiculite enhances water retention capacity of the soil.
- This is properly exfoliated vermiculite, which is produced by heating of its ore at very high temperature to ensure the best quality light weight vermiculite.
- This is capable to reduce weight of potting media.
River sand:
This is natural (Mix) river sand of fresh water, without sorting of sand granules. We have not sorted fine and coarse river sand in this. This is not marine sand. Approximately 80% sand particles will be in size range of 1-2 mm (size similar to fine cooking salt of your kitchen) and balance 20% sand particles will be in size range of approximately 3-4 mm.
River sand is considered as sterilised growing media. In comparison to ordinary soil, it does not attract bugs or pest. It also provides protection from termites. It improves overall health of plants by making stronger root development. Use of River sand for better drainage in soil is appreciated by plant lovers all over the world.
River sand is good for soil of succulents, cactus and many more plants. Some plant lovers like to propagate succulents by their leaves with river sand (We have shared the image). Use of river sand is very popular for growing seedlings of cactii, Adenium, Areca Palm and many more plants.
We may consider it a substitute of Perlite while making potting soil for Adenium, Rose and other plants. This is widely used with potting soil of most plants. But river sand cannot absorb oxygen or needful nutrients, however this can be done efficiently with use of crushed Leca, perlite or pumice stones.
Use of this river sand in your potting soil, will not let your soil compact. Use of more cocopeat in soil, make the soil the too moist which is not good for most of the plants. Moreover during winter or monsoon season, the soil does not dry out easily due to more use of cocopeat. To come over this problem, use of natural river sand in soil is recommended.
Use of River sand in aquarium bed is necessary for better growth and health of fishes. This can be used for Aquarium soil also. However, use of coarse river sand for Aquarium is more helpful in maintaining clarity of your aquarium water. During scheduled servicing / cleaning of your Aquarium, coarse river sand can be easily cleaned (by removing poop and fish food etc.). That will not make your aquarium water muddy. We can observe fishes playing with the sand in aquarium just like our children.
Sand is also useful for our children as a play activity. Some interior designers use sand with water fountains as well.
This is also used for various home decor projects, DIY, Rangoli etc. This can also be utilised for hot roasting of ground nut, popcorn etc.
Moreover, river sand is used in Havan Pujan (Yagya) also. Applications of river sand are beyond count and depends upon individual creativity.
Pumice stones :
1. Most of the plant lovers find this size of Pumice (4-8mm) more suitable for soil conditioning (for mixing in soil) of Bonsai, Adenium and other big plants.
2. If you wish to use Pumice for mulching (top soil layer), this size is correct choice. As per our opinion, 4-8mm or bigger size of pumice is more suitable for top layer of plants. Mulching of Pumice does not attract fungus or insects.
3. These Pumice granules can be used as a better alternative for Perlite. Pumice stones do not break down so easily. Pumice helps plants in faster drainage also. However, Perlite breaks down in powder form easily and may clog the soil drainage. Due to these reasons, most of plant lovers prefer to use pumice stones in potting mix, instead of Perlite.
4. They retain moisture in optimum quantity and provide needful micro-nutrients continuously to plants' roots. Pumice stones ensure proper drainage in soil. All nutrients can be stored in the small holes of these stones for continuous supply to plants.
5. Pumice stones have been successfully used in Bonsai plantation and other plants in Japan for a long period. Use of Pumice stones in potting mix of garden plants is considered as the best choice because it’s fully organic. For organic farming, use of these stones is increasing.
6. Ph value of pumice ranges from 7 upto 8. Ph value of 7 is considered neutral. More than 7 value shows alkaline content and less than 7 indicates acidic content. After washing of pumice its Ph value comes down partially. Pumice stones have a tendency to absorb atmospheric moisture, hence we may observe small droplets inside this pack, as a result of evaporation during hot weather. We have shown here all the 4 sizes of pumice available with us for reference of our customers.
7. For experiment, we mixed samples of all four sizes of Pumice stones and tried to submerge in water filled glass pot (image is shown for your reference). We observed that If size of Pumice rock is big enough (bigger than 15mm), we can easily see most of them floating over water due to light weight and availability of more air cavities inside pumice rocks.
8. But, if we break them into smaller pieces, air cavities of pumice gets filled up with water and find it bit difficult to float on water. But surprisingly, more than 50 % of 2-4mm Pumice stones were also seen floating on water surface. Bigger Pumice showed more chances of floating.
9. Pumice stones are naturally made from volcanic rocks and therefore they are not found naturally in India. These stones are imported from other countries where Volcanoes are available. 2-4 % Pumice dust may be available in this pack.
10. Use for Aquarium: Pumice stones are also used in Aquarium for water purification You have to wash it many times before using in aquarium, otherwise water of aquarium may look milky. It is suggested that you may use appropriate water filter also for aquarium to minimize its milkiness (if required).
